The North East Regional LGBT Network has undertaken a piece of work around Bi-Visibility on behalf of ACC Julie Cooke, the NPCC LGBT Lead.
It has been recognised that whilst many members of our community are able to live authentic lives both at home and at work, there are still barriers to being visible in many areas, one of which is amongst the Bi/Queer community including the other identities that sit underneath the Bi umbrella.
The region held its first meeting in York on 18th May to plan out how, as a group we could increase awareness of Bi/Queer issues, improve visibility and understanding, communicate what it means to us as individuals who identify as Bi/Queer and the importance of feeling accepted and valid within the LGBTQ community.
The group has representatives from Northumbria Police, North Yorkshire Police, Merseyside Police, BTP, NCA, Leicestershire Police, Humberside Police and Cambridgeshire Police already, but we would welcome interest from any force nationally who have staff, volunteers or officers who would like to be involved.
If you would like to know more about the group, please drop an email to B@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
